Keynote Presentations

 

Paula Howie, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, LCPAT, HLM has worked for over 30 years in the Art Therapy field specializing in helping both children and adults with issues of trauma, family, and relationships. She directed the Art Therapy Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 1979 to 2002. She teaches at the graduate art therapy programs of the School of the Visual Arts in New York, Florida State University, and Geroge Washington University. Howie was president of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) from 2005 to 2007 and remains an active member. She now holds an Honorary Life Membership (AATA’s highest honor). She has a private practice in Washington, D.C., where she focuses on the treatment of trauma, military members, and families. Howie is the author of the book, Art Therapy with Military Populations, which will be available for sale by Barnes & Noble Bookstore and signing by Paula Howie during the lecture.

Dr. Holly Feen-Calligan, Ph.D., ATR-BC has coordinated the Art Therapy program at Wayne State University for the last 27 of its 40 years in existence. She is also an active participant in ArtsCorps Detroit and the American Art Therapy Association (AATA). She was awarded AATA’s Rawley Silver Research Award in 2014 and AATA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2015.
